Somber Figure - Oil Pastel

I was born in Heredia Costa Rica in 1961 and studied Fine Arts at the Universidad Autonoma de Centroamerica. I have actively participated over one hundred solo and group exhibitions since the mid-1980s, both national and international. Included are the World Art Museum, Beijing China, Tour of World Art at the World Art Museum Shanghai China, Changsha Normal University Hunan Provence China, Rojas-Ford Fine Art in Coral Gables Florida, Ford Fine Art in Del Ray Beach Florida, Papillon Gallery Los Angles California, Madrid Spain, Mexico City Mexico, 2019 print exhibition in Cantabria Spain, a solo exhibition in Lyon, France. In Costa Rica the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture of Costa Rica, Autonomous University of Central America, Wildlife Foundation of Costa Rica, Biennales del Café, Golden Hall of the Costa Rican Art Museum, Biennales ValoArte, National 1887 Gallery of Costa Rica, National Gallery at the Children's Museum Costa Rica and the Juan Santamaría International Airport and the Costa Rican Country Club.

 


Throughout my life, I have been involved with art and design. I have studied their history and development. Other artists, both well known and little known, have inspired me to experiment, to be creative and to develop my own skills in interpreting the world around me. I enjoy using many different techniques and exicute my work in a variety of mediums.

This sculpture was created as a contribution to "Sit Well... Help A Child". Part of an exhibition of 70 contemporary works based on the chair and sponsored by the group WIZO Jai Sara Rose for the benefit of the Neonatal Unit of the Costa Rican National Children's Hospital.
